Our Animal Team

Our horses

Our therapy horses are our partners, and each has their own character!

All our therapy horses undergo continuous training using Relational Horsemanship, which is care and training of horses in harmony with their natural behaviour, diet, movement, and physical and psychological well-being.  Therapeutic work will be done on the ground with strict adherence to Health & Safety. Riding instruction is not provided unless this is part of an pre-agreed treatment and development plan.

Rambo

Rambo is an 18 year old chestnut gelding. He used to be a riding school pony, now he is one of our longest-serving therapy horses, helping out with all sorts of workshops – he’s an excellent all-rounder, and adores children.

Shaman

I have been with Jackie since I was a foal – now I am 8.  I am the largest horse on the yard, standing at 16’3hh. Two years ago I had an injury to my coffin bone but I have been riding out and exercising getting fit for next year.

Our small animals

Our small therapy animals visit care homes, nursing homes and hospices.  Sessions run for 60-90 minutes, primarily within Carmarthenshire, but please enquire if you are further afield. All our small therapy animals live at home with Sheila who ensures they are healthy and happy carrying out their work.

Imp

Imp the guinea pig. He loves celery and cucumber! He is quite noisy, and will call until he gets his treat.

Lottie

Lottie is a French Lop who is learning to walk with a harness as she is too heavy to carry! She needs a large lap to sit on but will happily share a cuddle on a settee. She loves being outside, nibbling the grass, and comes when she is called.

Percy

Percy is a real character.  We call him Percy the Laughing Dove. He is very happy travelling around on an arm, or hitching a lift on Monty the Shetland. He is popular with care home residents and has a wicked sense of humour. He laughs when someone trips over! He sometimes startles people by flying off but always comes back laughing – he flies backwards and hovers above people’s heads!
