Equus Ferus is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), No. 7964085. The Company has three Directors:
Jackie Turner holds a CertEd, DHyp and BST, a Certificate in NLP and is a registered Yoga teacher with the MBWY. Jackie is qualified in Equine Facilitated Learning through IFEAL and continues her equine facilitated learning training under the mentorship of Sun Tui, Director of IFEAL. Jackie is currently studying Traumatology. Jackie is also an experienced natural horsewoman and continues her professional development under Jody Ruysen, a registered Level 3* Parelli Professional.
Justine Trotman holds a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, a Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health and Social Care, IML Cert in Management, a Certificate in Counselling and has 10 years experience in the voluntary sector. Justine is currently studying for a Foundation Degree in Counselling and her Level 4 Equine Assisted Learning qualification. Justine has a life-long love of horses and dogs and has worked in the past with therapy dogs.
Sheila Bowden is a retired Additional Educational Needs Coordinator in the Primary School sector, qualified teacher and has extensive experience of working with a wide range of animal assisted therapies.
We also have a team of helpers and volunteers to support us in our work.
All our therapy horses undergo continuous training using Parelli Natural Horsemanship. Parelli is an international Natural Horsemanship organisation that promotes a formal programme of training and assessment. The majority of therapeutic work will be done on the ground with strict adherence to Health & Safety. Riding instruction is not provided unless this is part of an pre-agreed treatment and development plan.
