Dare to Live Cymru: Helping Veterans in Wales

We at Equus Ferus are excited to have recently been awarded a grant from the Positive Pathways Programme from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund to work in partnership with Dare to Live.

Through this partnership we’re able to offer Dare to Live Cymru: a selection of programmes dedicated to providing veterans in Wales support with their mental health and wellbeing.

Dare to Live Cymru

What Will Happen?

The aim of this programme to to help veterans develop interpersonal, resilience and wellbeing skills.

We do this by running a combination of nature-based, outdoor workshops with our equine partners, and six weekly online training sessions. This is split up into 3 distinct parts:

  1. A 3-day residential* outdoor workshop to focus on Connection, Comunication and Community
  2. Six weekly follow up training sessions, held online to develop resiliency skills
  3. A day’s outdoor workshop for veterans and their partner or family member to help veterans consolidate what they’ve learned by sharing the experience with someone important to them

* We can cover travel, board and lodging expenses as part of this project. The residential nature of this project is not mandatory. If you’d like more information, please contact us, or view and download the PDF leaflet:

Our Current Referral Pathways

The following organisations support Veterans with their wellbeing and mental health. Equus Ferus has been working closely with these organisations to ensure the necessary support and guidance is available and accessible for their members. We’re proud to be a part of a community that can support so many people through trauma-informed care.

Part-funding from the National Lottery

The Dare to Live Cymru marquee will receive match-funding as part of a grant awarded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
