Armed Forces Covenant Fund - Positive Pathways

EquiPath Next Steps 2026

We are especially pleased to have received a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund for us to run a series of 12 free sessions, as a continuation of our previous EquiPath: Bridging Change project, across 2026-27.

The aim of this project is to provide continued support for beneficiaries of the previous project, and build upon the community we started to establish through the EquiPath programme, addressing the continued challenges of addictive behaviours and how community can help build and maintain resilience.

This programme will first be offered to all previous EquiPath participants, extending the project to include the opportunity for their family members to gain further insight on how best to support them in recovery.

Through psychoeducation, mindfulness practices and natural horsemanship activities, we’ll be offering participants and their families the opportunity to develop more self-awareness, learn how to build positive relationships, how to face life challenges in a more curious and responsive way.

What Will Happen?

The programme will offer a safe, therapeutic environment working with horses to foster skills in connection, communication, maintaining healthy boundaries, positive relationships and shared leadership.

We’ll do this by running nature-based, outdoor workshops with our equine partners, one session per month for 12 months.

The relatively small size of the monthly groups will allow us to tailor the experience to participants more effectively, and to make sure we’re able to provide the appropriate amount of care and attention for each.

* We can cover travel expenses as part of this project, and basic snack provisions will be included.

Our Current Referral Pathways

The following organisations support beneficiaries with their wellbeing and mental health. Equus Ferus has been working closely with these organisations to ensure the necessary support and guidance is available and accessible for their members. We’re proud to be a part of a community that can support so many people through trauma-informed care.

  • VC Galleries
  • Previous beneficiaries
  • Previous self-referred clients

Funding from the National Lottery
